Summer Hours

Memorial week-end was the start of our summer schedule, Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. - 9 p.m. and Friday, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. We will be closed on Saturdays until the fall schedule starts after the Labor Day week-end.

Booked for the Evening
Thursday, Sep. 4th @ 7:00 p.m.

Larry Weller is an ordinary guy with an ordinary life.  He has a good job working as a floral designer, a career-minded girlfriend and a decent, if unremarkable, relationship with his parents. But on his honeymoon in England, Larry discovers his true love – mazes.  Pulitzer Prize winning Canadian novelist Carol Shields (The Stone Diaries) takes us on a journey from ordinary to extraordinary in her Orange Prize for Fiction winner, Larry’s Party.  Although Shields died in 2003, her literature lives on as groups like Booked for the Evening enjoy and discuss her work.  Join us for a lively discussion and delectable desserts.  Click here for a list of our upcoming selections through January 2009.

What's New? TumbleBooks!
Brought to you by the Friends of the Roseville Library

What are TumbleBooks?  The TumbleBookLibrary is an online collection of animated, talking picture books which teach the joy of reading in a format that children will love. TumbleBooks are created by adding animation, sound, music and narration to existing picture books in order to produce an electronic picture book which you can read, or have read to you.

The TumbleBookLibrary provides enrichment to students who are reading independently with a variety of high interest material. It also provides support to students who require skill building with a variety of exercises. Tumblebooks are also helpful for ESL (English as a Second Language) students.

The TumbleBookLibrary collection is accessed online from every Internet computer in the library or from home through a direct link on our library website (http://www.rosevillelibrary.org/kids.htm).  For more information or assistance, speak with a librarian in Youth Services.

Why not check out  TumbleBooks today and thank the Friends for their generous support.

A special thank you to the many talented participants who submitted an entry into the Create a Bug contest.  We had some very creative and colorful bugs.  The winners are:

            Teen/Adult:  Joyce Flynn

The bugs will continue to be displayed in the library until Labor Day.  All bugs must be picked up by Labor Day (September 1st).  Anything not picked up will be disposed of after Labor Day.

The success of our annual Summer Reading Program can be attributed to the support we received from the Friends of the Roseville Public Library as well as Great Skate, Red Robin and Mongolian BBQ who contributed certificates for those who completed the program.
