May 1, 1998 - Loyalty Day - This unique holiday celebration includes an outside ceremony from 7 p.m. - 8 p.m., featuring government guests, color guards, national guards, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Ladies Auxiliary and many more organizations. Thursday, 7 p.m. - 8 p.m. Free admission; free parking.

May 3, 1998 - Bearing Burners Auto Show - This Car Show can't be missed! Come see over 40 classes of vehicles. A total of more than 300 will be on display to view including street rods, classics, race cars and more. Tour through a manufacturers' midway with vendor displays, a car corral and a swap meet area. Enter to win a '71 Chevelle SS or a 454 Chevy Motor in a raffle at 3 p.m.. Sunday, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Free admission; parking, $7.

May 6, 1998 - Senior Power Day - Seniors can enjoy a morning of speakers focused on “Healthcare in the Year 2000.” Invited speakers include; Governor Engler, Congressman Bonior, Macomb County Commission Chairperson John Hertel and CEO of Mount Clemens General Hospital Robert Milewski. Macomb County vendors will also have booths with information. Refreshments available. Wednesday, 9 a.m. - noon. Free admission and parking.

June 4, 5, 6, & 7, 1998 - 4th Annual SummerFest - Macomb County's 4th Annual SummerFest gets the summer season off to a spectacular start! Everyone's invited. Entertainment includes amusement rides, live music, dancing and Las Vegas nights. Enjoy children's and seniors' afternoons, and a country/western dance Friday night. Thursday and Friday, 5 p.m - 11 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, noon - 11 p.m. Free admission; parking, $4.

June 13, 14, 1998 - Macedonian Festival - The Macedonian Festival returns to Freedom Hill County Park with its delicious food, children's games, music and dancing all from the region. Saturday and Sunday, noon - 11 p.m. Free admission; parking, $4.

June 24, 1998 - Older American Festival - If you're “Young at Heart” and a Macomb County senior aged 60 or over, you're invited to a day of fun at Freedom Hill. Joe Vitale will entertain from 1 p.m - 4 p.m. and Johnny Chase's - “one man band,” will perform 12:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. 4,000 free lunches will be served. Take advantage of free parking, free admission, health tests and other interesting activities sponsored by the Macomb County Board of Commissioners. Wednesday, noon - 4:30 p.m. Free admission; free parking.

June 27, 1998 - Second Annual Macomb TasteFest & Family Fitness Fair - Sponsored by the American Heart Association, East Central Macomb Division, St. Joseph Mercy of Macomb, St. John's Hospital and Mt. Clemens General Hospital. Begin the day with the Freedom Hill 5K Walk/Run at 10 a.m.Division, St. Joseph Mercy of Macomb, St. John's Hospital and Mt. Clemens General Hospital. Begin the day with the Freedom Hill 5K Walk/Run at 10 a.m. Pre-registration is free and available at Freedom Hill. Registration the day of the race is $5.Awards will be given to various winners. Fitness demonstrations w ill take place throughout the day. The TasteFest begins at 11 a.m. Bring your family and friends to sample delicious food prepared by local area restaurants. Foods will be prepared in a heart-healthy fashion. Cholesterol screenings, cooking demonstrations, health education and materials available. Don't miss it! July 4, 1998 - County Picnic - Each and Every Macomb County resident is invited to Freedom Hill to celebrate our nation’s birthday! Enjoy live music and fireworks at dusk. You may bring your own picnic, but no beverages in glass bottles or cans. No alcohol. Don’t miss yet another Vegas Night of the lucky weekend, spnosored by the Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 154.Saturday, 4 p.m. - 11 p.m. Free admission; parking, $4.

July 5, 1998 - Veterans Picnic - The public is invited to join Vietnam Veterans of America, Michgian Chapter 154 and their families in celebration of Independence Day at Freedom Hill. July 6, 1998 - Sterling & Reid Brothers 3-Ring Circus - Enjoy a real circus under the Biggest Big Top ever with all the thrills, chills, laughs and excitement in the grand style of the traditional circus. Featuring elephants, lions, tigers, a complete horse show, acrobats, jugglers, daring aerialists and the funniest clowns! Come early! July 26, 1998 - GTO Classic Car Show and Swap Meet - The GTO Association of America, Micigian Chapter, welcomes you to the 9th annual Classic Car Show and Swap Meet . August 22, 23, 1998 - Sterling Heights LionsFest - The Sterling Heights Lions Club will hosts its first annual Sterling Heights LionsFest to raise funds for its major charities. The event features an Art Fair both days, a Lorados Concert at the Freeom Hill amphitheater Saturday at 8 p.m. and a Car Show on Sunday, Saturday, 10 a.m. - dusk, concert at 8 p.m.: Sunday, 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. Free admission. August 28, 29, 30, 1998 - The Original Microbrewery Festival™ - Freedom Hill’s first Microbrewery Festival is sure to be your favorite! George’s Promotions and Macomb County Parks and Recreation invite you to sample beer from local microbreweries. Taste all kinds of beer. Enjoy food, live entertainment, and supplier demonstrations. September 13, 1998 - Battle of the Brits Car Show - The Detroit Triumph Sports Car Club and the Metro Triumph Riders invite you to Michigan's 16th annual all-British car and motorcycle show. View New England's finest bikes and cars from the '50s, '60s and '70s. Food and refreshments. Sunday, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Free admission; parking, $6.

September 19, 20, 1998 - BMX State Championship Race - This year’s State Championship Team Series Race is back at Freedom Hill. Riders will participate from all over Michigan. Pre-race and registration on Saturday at 5 p.m. Sunday Championship Race begins at noon. Racers fees $8 for points and trophy. $6 points only. NBL membership required; cost $35 a year, can be purchased at the track the day of race. Free admission; parking, $4.

September 20, 1998 - Second Annual Fall Open Cheer & Dance Competition - Over 300 high schools from throughout Michigan will compete for cheerleading and dance titles. September 25, 1998 - Country Concert on the Hill with Aaron Tippin - Enjoy another concert on the hill Friday, with Aaron Tippin. Gates open at 6 p.m. show time is at 7 p.m.. Also featuring Nashville recording artist Mary Lou Livingston with Leather & Lace and Nicole Niles. Tickets are $20 from Ticketmaster or Freedom Hill. Parking, $4.
