FICTION

The Blade Itself (The First Law Trilogy) / Joe Abercrombie
FIC
This is dark, gritty deconstructionist fantasy with a strong historical inspiration. It is truly character-driven, complex personalities, vivid setting, great dialogue, gripping, gory action scenes. It is a unique accomplishment, speaking as a fantasy fan; nothing quite like it.
(George Allen from RSV/Page)

Clara and Mr. Tiffany / Susan Vreeland
BCD, EB. FIC, LT
This is a delightful story of a woman who was instrumental in developing the Tiffany lamps and windows. It has wonderful characters and a great historical account of a time when women were forging their place in the business world.
(Ruth from SCS)

Crooked Letter, Crooked Letter / Tom Franklin
BCD, EB, FIC, LT
Two former childhood friends, one black and now a small-town constable, one white and a small town mechanic branded as a murderer, reconnect after many years.
(Jackie from RSV)

Detective Blue / Steve Metzger
FIC
In this book Little Boy Blue is a grown-up detective. It is written in comic book style and contains fairy tale references that will delight all ages.
(Kelly Marra, Children's Librarian at MPL)

Dog who spoke with gods / Diane Jessup
FIC
A fictional account of a woman's relationship with a stray dog used as a lab animal, this tearjerker will make you want to hug your dog and never let go.
