Friends of the LWML Become a Friends Member...The Friends of the Lois Wagner Memorial Library was established in the mid-1990's by a small group of dedicated volunteers, the group now has 11 "Friends" members. The Friend's mission is to help enrich the community by connecting people to the world of information and imagination. The goal of the organization is to raise money for the benefit of all Lois Wagner Memorial Library patrons. The Friends have various fundraiser's and the annual "Cookie Sale" is one of their most successful. Some of the Friends past contributions to the library have included:
If you are interested in joining the Friends organization, they will be having a meeting on September 19th, 2007 at 7:00PM. The meeting will be held in the meeting room at the library, everyone is invited to attend. The Friends always welcome new members. Membership Dues are for one year, July through June and are as follows:
Friends Membership Application Events... The Friends are sponsoring a drawing for anyone who joins the Friends from September 2007 through December 2007. With your paid membership, your name will automatically be entered in a drawing to win a gift certificate to one of the following local restaurants: Main Street Cafe Ted's Coney Island Ken's Country Kitchen Be a "STAR" and join the Friends. Drawing will be held January 16th, 2008
The Friends' sponsored annual Cookie Festival is scheduled for Saturday, December 8th, 2007 in the library's meeting room from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. (unless cookies sell out earlier). If you are interested in helping the Friends by baking cookies, please sign-up in the library after November 4th. Please include your phone number when signing-up. You can also call the library at 586-727-2665 to add your name to the list. The Friends would appreciate it if you could bake at least 3 dozen cookies. Don't forget to check the calendar for other upcoming events sponsored by The Friends.
Library Book Bags...The Friends of LWML have for sale their “newly designed” book bags in two sizes: The “Library Book Bag” is 18” wide by 12” high with a 1” bottom gusset. This bag comes with longer handles for carrying over the shoulder and is made of 100% cotton duck with a Velcro-attached pocket. The “Tote or Shopping Bag” is made from poly-cotton duck and is 13 ½” wide by 16 ½” high with a 3” gusset. This bag has shorter handles. Both of the bags are “Made in the USA” and come in burgundy color with white lettering picturing the famous Town Clock. Cost of the bags is $10 each and the proceeds benefit the Lois Wagner Memorial Library.
