Since the loss of the MiLE service in late 2005, MiLE member libraries have worked diligently to provide a new and improved MiLE service. Unfortunately the new software we had hoped to use to allow our patrons to directly request materials owned by other MiLE libraries does not work well enough. We have therefore decided to cease working on restoring MiLE until the software has been improved.

The MiLE Board is actively investigating other avenues and software that can reestablish this valued service to our mutual patrons. A number of MiLE member libraries have joined (or will be joining) the statewide MeLCat project, which also provides a way for patrons to easily request materials owned by other libraries. MiLE has been a model project providing a great deal of service to patrons at very little cost to its member libraries. It has been a wonderful example of collaboration and commitment on the part of its members. We thank our library patrons for their patience during the last several months and assure you we will do all that we can to restore the patron-based requesting service that MiLE pioneered.
