Databases from Home
At home or beyond: for passwords etc. please ask at the information desk and we will give you a sheet with access information.  Because of licensing restrictions we are unable to provide the information here.

Kids' Databases thru MEL- SIRS Discoverer, Kids InfoBits, and Electric Library Elementary are available online in the library or at home by using a parent's driver's license number. This link takes you to MEL thru which you can access the databases.

NetLibrary -The Romeo District Library has e-books which library users can check out.  To use from home, you must first register "create an account" from a computer in the library (follow this link then look for create account button on right of screen beneath "Library of Michigan " logo). Then you can browse or check out ebooks from home, library, or wherever you access the internet.

Infotrac is a general magazine index with many articles full text.  This database has a new password, please call the library or stop in and ask for the online database sheet (you may be asked for your current Romeo District Library card number)

First Search accesses sixty one databases of magazine citations and other reference databases.  In the library, please exit to the main menu and choose on-line databases to access this resource, to access this from home, please call the library for the authorization and password. Gale Ready Reference- Search for organizations and publications.(see online databases sheet for  password, use same password from Gale Internet Resources)

iBistro -the library catalog with cover pictures, book summaries and more.

Learn-a-Test Learning Express Library- once you've "created an account" (free of charge) at the library, you can access this test preparation database and work sample exams for ACT, GED, GMAT, SAT, Firefighter, Paramedic, Police Officer, Postal Worker, Real Estate and others.  Link will take you to MEL, when you enter your driver's license number you will go to a list of available databases including Learn-a-Test.

MEL Databases- Many great databases are available thru the Michigan E-Library site.  You will need to enter your Michigan driver's license number or state identification number to access the databases, which are only accessible to Michigan residents.

NoveList- This database of over 110,000 fiction titles for readers of all ages lets you use your favorite author to link to other books you might enjoy. Use your Romeo District Library card number as your id number to log in from home.

Rosetta Stone- Award-winning method of language teaching uses thousands of real-life images, written text and voices of native speakers. Currently, the languages included are American English, British English, German, French, Italian, Russian, Latin American Spanish, and Spanish from Spain . The first time you access the site you will be required to register using your Romeo library card number. You will create an account with your own username and password to use for subsequent logins.
