Summer Hours

Memorial week-end was the start of our summer schedule, Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. - 9 p.m. and Friday, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. We will be closed on Saturdays until the fall schedule starts after the Labor Day week-end.

Booked for the Evening
Thursday, Aug. 7th @ 7:00 p.m.

The murder of Abraham Lincoln set off the greatest manhunt in American history -- the pursuit and capture of John Wilkes Booth. James Swanson's Manhunt: the Twelve-Day Chase for Lincoln's Killer, our selection for August, is a terrific hour-by-hour account of Lincoln's assassination, Booth's escape and pursuit by the military. Movies rights have been sold and it is expected to be an 2009 HBO movie. Join us for what will be a most interesting discussion of a terrific book.  Click here for a list of our upcoming selections.

Family Movie Matinees
Tuesdays June 17th  through July 29th @ 3:00 p.m.

Free afternoon movies for all ages include, Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium, A Bug's Life, The Water Horse, The Magic School Bus: Bugs, Bugs, Bugs, Miss Spider: The Prince, The Princess and the Bee, Underdog, The Ant Bully and The Spiderwick Chronicles. (Some films may have scenes that are too intense for children under 5.)

Summer Reading Club
June 16th through August 1st

Remember, the deadline for reading club submissions (Create-A-Bug and reading logs) is Aug. 1st.

The library offers a summer reading program for all ages from listeners through adults. Register for the program on June 12th or anytime between June 16th and July 18th. You may register online or in person. If you register online you will have to come in to the library to pick up your reading logs.

All participants who successfully complete the Summer Reading Club will have the opportunity to enter a grand prize drawing. Children and Teens will have the chance to win a Nintendo Wii. Adults will be entered into a drawing for a Kodak digital camera.

There will be three separate programs: Catch the Reading Bug @ Your Library for listeners and juvenile readers; Metamorphosis @ Your Library for teens and Pollinate Your Mind @ Your Library for adults. See the calendar for special programs and events associated with the Summer Reading Club.

Adult Clue Hunt
Friday, Aug. 1st @ 6:00 p.m.

Adults will solve clues and enjoy light refreshments after-hours in the library. Prizes will be awarded to the winning team. Register in teams of two. If you don't have a team, the library staff will assign you a partner. Registration is required online, by telephone, or in person.
