What and Where is the Teen Area?
Here at the library we have a separate area for teens. It contains a
sitting area and also houses the Young Adult
(YA) fiction, paperback and comics collections. These
collections are listed on the computer as Y or
YA. That means they are aimed at grades 7-12. Our comics
collection contains a large selection of manga, also known as Japanese comic
books, which are very popular. The non-fiction and biographies for teens
are interfiled with the juvenile books but are labeled as Y or YA. We
have a section for new books, too. Come in and check us out!

Teen Advisory Group
This group helps put together The Shelving
Unit, a newsletter filled with reviews of all kinds of things
(books, CDs, movies, websites, etc.) that are written by the teens. The
Group also helps with some fund-raising activities and makes decisions
about the teen room. Usually we meet 3 or 4 times a year. If you are
interested in joining the group, let me know. It's a great opportunity if you like
to write, or if you like making recommendations to your friends on good
music, good reads or good websites!

Teen Night at the Library
Once a month, usually the 4th Thursday of the month at 7:00
p.m., we have some activity for teens. Some examples include
Game Night, Anime movies (Japanese animation), and Clue Hunt. We
hope in the near future to do a Karaoke Night. Check out our
calendar or call the library to see what's happening each month. |
