National Academy of Needlearts instructor Gail Sirna will present a slide program on the needlewoman in historical art. Gail is nationally recognized for her needlework designs and holds workshops in Michigan. Her book will be available for purchase.

This presentation is a part of the ninth annual Elizabeth Blay Maison Memorial Lecture Series. The St. Clair Shores Historical Commission is pleased to announce this series of lectures. She was a descendent of the Blay family, who immigrated to Quebec from France in 1669, and the Herbert family, who arrived with Samuel Champlain in Quebec around 1616. Many early French Canadians later moved down the St. Lawrence to Detroit. Elizabeth's great-great-grandfather, Etienne Blay, was baptized in Detroit April 1, 1796.  Elizabeth married Joseph Maison at St. Gertrude's Church in 1932, settling in St. Clair Shores on the Maison Farm on what is now Bon Brae Street. The Maison family also owned and farmed Eagle Pointe subdivision for over 100 years.
