What is the Summer Reading Club?

This free program encourages children from birth through high school to read
library books for fun, earning stickers and prizes throughout June and July.
Readers can choose one of four levels:

Level 1: Infants & Toddlers
Parents of infants and toddlers from birth to two years old are welcome to join Summer Reading Club! Pick up a reading log and complete six simple pre-reading activities with your child. Return the completed sheet to the library and receive a special prize for your child.

Level 2: Read-to-Me & Beginning Readers
Preschoolers and beginning readers can earn a sticker and a small prize for each weekly visit to the library.  These children can also play BOOK BINGO.  For Book Bingo children read books from various categories (such as things-that-go stories or bedtime tales) and complete a cover-all bingo card which can be redeemed for a bag of prizes.

Level 3: Independent Readers
This is for children who can comfortably read alone with little or no help.  These readers will follow a game sheet by reading 20 minutes a day.  For every seven days of reading, the Independent Reader will earn rewards including stickers, small prizes and entry forms for the weekly and grand prize drawings.

Level 4: Teen Readers
Teens who have completed at least grade six can try the coupon system.  Each reader will receive a booklet with coupons labeled fantasy, sports story, graphic novels, etc.  Read a library book in the appropriate category, fill out the coupon, and drop it in the contest box for a chance to win some great prizes.

Choose your level and have a great time reading!

When is the Summer Reading Club?

The Summer Reading Club usually begins in June with our Open House where children can register as a Summer Reading Club member and take some time to help us decorate the Youth Services Department.  If you can't make it for Open House, you can still register while the Summer Reading Club is in progress.
