The Friends of the Warren Public Library started 1970 as Citizens for Library Action, and their purpose was public participation in libraries. In 1972, the group was incorporated as the Friends of the Warren Public Library. Their first book sale, the primary fund-raiser for the group, was held in October 1972.

Who are the Friends?
A non-profit corporation chartered by the State of Michigan and organized:
To support the Warren Public Library with funds, gifts and services
To encourage community support for all Warren Public libraries
To promote the cultural and educational advancement of the community

What do the Friends do?
Share - A conviction that good library service is essential to everyone in the community
Work - To provide materials and programs not available with library funds. Friends have contributed more than $350,000 since 1975.
Support - Library programs such as Storyhour and Summer Reading Club
Sponsor - Monthly Used Book sales (See the Donations page for details), Mystery Night Dinner, programs for Children and Adults, Children's table at the Warren Art in the Park
Assist - Library staff as needed, helping at the Summer Reading Club picnic and special programs.
